As prayed by the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Meditations by St. John Paul II Translated from “Heart of Hearts, Meditations for the Month of June,” Krakow, 1987
Introductory Prayers for Each Day
Exhortation by St. John Paul II to contemplate the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Let us contemplate the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is the source of life, since by means of it victory over death was achieved. It is also the source of holiness, since in it, sin, the enemy of man’s spiritual development, is defeated. The Heart of the Lord Jesus is the starting-point of the holiness of each one of us. From the Heart of the Lord Jesus let us learn the love of God and understanding of the mystery of sin – mysterium iniquitatis.
Let us make acts of reparation to the Divine Heart for the sins committed by us and by our fellow men. Let us make reparation for rejecting God’s goodness and love.
Let us draw close each day to this fount from which flow springs of living water. Let us cry out with the Samaritan woman “Give us this water”, for it wells up to eternal life.
St. John Paul II • June 6, 1999.
SACRED HEART NOVENA PRAYER
O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I have asked You for many favors, but I plead for this one… Please take it, place it in Thine open, broken Heart, and when the Eternal Father looks upon it and sees it covered with the mantle of Your Most Precious Blood, He will not refuse it. It is no longer my prayer but Yours. O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.

Amen.
Fountain of Life and Holiness
Let anyone who thirsts come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as scripture says, ‘Rivers of water will flow from within him. We all desire to draw near to this fountain of living water. We all desire to drink from the Divine Heart, which is the fountain of life and holiness.
In It, we are given the Holy Spirit, who is constantly given to all who draw near to Christ – to His Heart, with adoration and love.
To draw near to the fountain means to approach at the Source. There is no other place in the created world from which we can draw holiness in human life, other than in His Heart, which has loved so much. Springs of living water have welled up in so many hearts and continue to do so today. The saints of all ages bear witness to it.
A moment of reflection
Let us pray. Our Mother and Queen, you were always the way for us to the Heart of your Son. On the Cross, this Heart, pierced by a lance, became for all the fountain of life and holiness. Draw people, families, and communities to the Divine Heart, since this Heart – obedient unto death, is the propitiation for our sins.
Through the intercession of Mary, our Mother, may the Heart of our Savior never cease to be King and center of all hearts, especially the King and center of His servants. Amen.
V/ Heart of Jesus, fountain of life and holiness
R/ Have mercy on us.
